Make the Appropriate Mens Platinum Wedding Bands Decision

Yellow gold has been a popular choice for wedding bands for many years. White gold, or gold mixed with other metals to give it a silvery appearance, has also become very popular. In just the past few years the wedding band market has expanded to include many other precious metals that are either new or that have been popular in the past, including palladium.

However, many men of the 21st century have reached a point of wedding enlightenment. Some know that as active participants in the planning stages, they are scoring huge points! My husband was full of ideas and opinions when it came to planning our special day. He and I designed our wedding cake. We both visited each potential wedding location. We chose favors together. Now I know that he was not busting at the seams with excitement during the entire process, but I know that his input made it all the more special.

Secondly, it is important that you look your best. Keep that shirt tucked in, that tie knotted perfectly and that hair slicked back in perfection. There are photos to be taken and memories to be had, so you need to be looking your best. And for once, your bride is not going to be there to ensure you are up to scratch, so it is your time to show that you can scrub up well on your own too.

For those people with sensitive skin or allergies, either platinum or palladium is a good choice as neither is a common allergen. Nickel, however, is a common allergen, and so people may be allergic to their white gold wedding band. Although white gold made with palladium can be procured, it is more expensive than a nickel-based white gold, and jewelers cannot always guarantee a nickel-free product. There are some disadvantages to palladium. Although whiter and stronger than platinum, it is also more sensitive to dramatic changes in temperature as occurs with sizing rings, and may discolor or become brittle with repeated exposures to a soldering iron. Also, as with platinum, it can become less shiny over time and may need to be polished by a professional jeweler. However, this cost is likely to be less than a replating of rhodium.

Palladium is a good alternative to either white gold or platinum. It is more hypoallergenic and whiter than white gold while similar in price, and far less expensive than platinum. Although there are a few drawbacks to palladium, it provides an excellent alternative for a wedding band.
